A double scientific distinction for Dr. Louiza Papantonatou

As a woman and a colleague, I feel especially proud of my collaborator, Dr. Louiza Papantonatou. It is a joy to follow the scientific journey of a researcher whose work and contribution to modern Periodontology continue to stand out.

After her important distinction in Florence, where she received the Best Research – Antony H. Melcher Prize, her scientific contribution was also recognised in Greece. The Hellenic Society of Periodontology and Dental Implants honoured her at its inaugural event on 9 October 2026 at Makedonia Palace in Thessaloniki.

An example of scientific excellence

Her journey is a wonderful example of how scientific excellence, dedication to research and continuous development contribute to the progress of modern dentistry.

I am especially glad that we share the same scientific path and that I had the pleasure of being present for this important moment. Congratulations, Louiza! I wholeheartedly wish you many more achievements, distinctions and inspiration for the journey ahead.
